INPS’s 25 Peaks Project: Surveying the Flora of Idaho’s Alpine Peaks

Coffee, snacks and socializing at 9:30Derek Antonelli, president of the Calypso Chapter of the Idaho Native Plant Society (INPS) will share insights on alpine flora surveyed in INPS’s 25 Peaks Project. Starting in 2022, botanical inventories were conducted on 25 Idaho alpine summits over a 3-year period. Journey with Derek as he leads us up some of Idaho's most spectacular peaks. Observe the beginning and current status of this exciting project as it seeks to fully catalog the diversity of this challenging and beautiful ecosystem.
About the Speaker
Derek Antonelli, president of the Calypso Chapter of the Idaho Native Plant Society, is a botanist who has studied and collected native plants for 40 years. He leads the North Idaho Rare Plant Working Group for INPS. He is also a charter member of the Pend Oreille Chapter of the Idaho Master Naturalist Program serving the Sandpoint area.How to Attend
The program will be presented in-person at the East Bonner County Library’s main branch (1407 Cedar Street, Sandpoint). Coffee, tea and treats are available beginning at 9:30 a.m. The program is co-sponsored by Sandpoint Parks & Recreation, with support from East Bonner County Library District. Free and open to the public.
