  • Pesticide Stewardship Partnership Program: Understanding the Pesticide Problem in Montana’s Waterways

    Saturday, February 21
    10:00 AM
Coffee, snacks and socializing at 9:30

Join Dr. Rachel Malison to learn about her pioneering water monitoring program focusing on the headwaters of the Columbia River Basin. This program seeks a better understanding of the extent and effects of water contamination on the watershed. The goal of the Pesticide Stewardship Partnership Program is to build a network of partners, collect data to detect pesticides in waterways, and provide education on sustainable pesticide practices, including alternatives to chemical intervention. Her presentation will highlight the implications of pesticide contamination in waterways, including their associated land areas and wildlife, and offer recommendations of best practices for controlling pollution.

Rachel Malison grew up in northern Idaho, earning her Ph.D. in Systems Ecology at the University of Montana. She is now an Assistant Research Professor at the Flathead Lake Biological Station and in the Ecology & Evolution Program at the University of Montana.
